Bankruptcy Requirements: Phoenix Credit and Debt Counseling

NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 3: People enter U.S. Bank...Image by Getty Images via @daylifeWe hear so much about bankruptcy on the news these days, that people often forget that there are legal requirements related to a successful bankruptcy filing. In other words, filing for bankruptcy isn't a quick, one-off type of task that you just do and then it's over. There are steps that must be taken in order for you to successfully file for bankruptcy.

One of the things that EVERYONE must do to file in Phoenix, is to complete a Phoenix Credit and Debt Counseling program. Did you notice that we said EVERYBODY? That means that there is no way around this requirement, and that it must be done – no matter how many connections you have, or how badly you want to avoid it.

Since the federal bankruptcy changes in 2005, the federal government has mandated that every state must require citizens, who are filing for bankruptcy, to complete one of these programs. And don't confuse these programs with those companies out there who promise to clean up your financial problems, regardless of how big the problems are. These companies often call themselves credit and debt counseling firms, but they usually don't do much for people, other than separate hard working families from their hard earned money. In other words, be sure that you are attending your credit counseling programs at a legitimate facility.

To make sure that you take all the right steps during your bankruptcy filing – including taking the right Phoenix Credit and Debt Counseling program – be sure to contact Dault & Associates to speak with an experienced bankruptcy lawyer, who can help you find out more about this federally mandated bankruptcy requirement.
